Ever since Jeep made the Gladiator prototype in 2005 offroader’s & overlander’s a like have been screaming for Jeep to put this thing into production!
Up until very recently we were all told to not hold our breath, or at least head over to AEV for their ~$100k version of the wrangler pick up, the Brute Double cab. Well some great news has recently come from the head honcho’s over at Jeep regarding the much anticipated/dreamed about production of a Jeep pickup based off of the Wrangler!
Not a whole lot is known about the final fit and finish currently, it is mostly speculation at the present but I am sure the truck will take some design cues from both the Gladiator and the AEV Brute, but only time will tell.
So far all we really know is that the pickup will be produced in the current Wrangler factory (in Toledo, Ohio) and is expected to be on the market some time in 2017-2018.
Until Jeep hands out the spec sheet for the pickup (and the future of the wrangler) the rumor mill will be filled with speculation, doubt and with a dab of truth… Will diesel be an engine option? Or will it be a small displacement petrol engine with a turbo option similar to the newly released Renegade?
